Official: Russian progressive tax scale debates to last over 1 yr
MOSCOW, Dec 20 (PRIME) -- The discussion on introduction of a progressive personal income tax scale in Russia instead of the current flat rate will take more than a year, Valentina Matviyenko, speaker of the Federation Council, the parliament’s supreme chamber, said at a press conference on Tuesday.
“At least one year is required to discuss viability with the business and the society,” Matviyenko said. She also said that President Vladimir Putin had promised to keep taxes unchanged until 2018.
Matviyenko separately said that the authorities will not sign an increase of the retirement age in 2017.
